De Citroen parkiet (ook bekend als: Geelvoorhoofdparkiet en Bergparkiet) komt voor in Argentinië, Bolivia, Chili en Peru. Zijn natuurlijke habitat is subtropisch of tropisch hooggelegen struikgewas tot een hoogte van 3.500 mtr. Verder vind je ze ook in open graslanden met verspreide struiken en cactussen op de Puna, ook agrarische gebieden, plantages en stedelijke tuinen en parken. Ze voeden zich met knoppen, zaden, peulvruchten en bessen.
